Unusual loft conversion and roof extension with outside patio decking in Hackney

A private roof terrace under the stars was built by East London home builder AE4 Build for this client in Hackney alongside a new indoor living space for this loft conversion project. The resulting space -- both indoors and out -- is full of natural light with unimpeded views of the sky and roof tops across Hackney.
Thinking outside the box: the owners of this Hackney home wanted more living space - including outdoor space upstairs by way of a rooftop open to the heavens. East London Builder AE4 Build was only too happy to oblige and completed the project on time and in budget in just 12 weeks.
Project scope
Some people love to bring the outdoors in, which is exactly what this client in Hackney did, when they asked for a patio outdoor living space to be created alongside a new indoor roof extension.
Starting with a flat roof, Home Builder AE4 Build built the indoor living space and studded it with windows and roof lights to let the light stream in. But instead of extending this interior space to cover the entire roof, the construction company set aside an area outdoors for the patio roof terrace as the client requested.
The new outdoor space comprised new decking, safety railings and some bespoke outdoor seating that our construction contractors designed and built, with clever hidden storage space contained within. The outdoor seating structures also included some inbuilt planters for rooftop greenery.
AE4 Build provided free project management for the entire construction job. This included sourcing reclaimed materials to help the client limit their carbon footprint.
A full team led by a site foreman from AE4 Build was onsite every day for 12 weeks until the project was completed.
